Hurricanes Shut Out Flyers 3-0 as Stankoven Stars in Game 1
A statement start to the Eastern Conference Second Round as the Carolina Hurricanes deliver a controlled, clinical performance and shut out the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 in Game 1. Right from the opening minutes, the tone was set and Carolina never really let go of control in front of a packed home crowd in Raleigh.
The spotlight belonged to Logan Stankoven, who continues a remarkable playoff run. He scored twice, pushing his postseason goal streak to five straight games. His first came early, redirecting a shot in front of the net and from that moment, the Hurricanes dictated the pace. Stankoven added another later in the second period, finishing off a sharp passing sequence that exposed Philadelphia’s defensive gaps.
Carolina’s depth also made the difference. Jackson Blake added a goal and an assist, while Frederik Andersen delivered another composed performance in net with 19 saves for a shutout. Even without needing to face heavy pressure, Andersen came up with key stops at important moments, especially early in the third when Philadelphia briefly tried to shift momentum.

Carolina’s penalty kill also stood tall once again, continuing a dominant postseason trend that has frustrated opponents throughout the playoffs. Combine that with their early scoring and disciplined defensive system and the Hurricanes looked every bit like a top seed asserting control of the series.
