US Launches New Strikes on Iran as Tensions Surge in Strait of Hormuz
A sudden escalation in the Gulf has pushed US-Iran tensions back into the global spotlight, as new US military strikes hit targets in southern Iran.
According to US Central Command, American forces carried out what they describe as self-defense strikes against Iranian missile launch sites and boats believed to be laying mines near key waterways.
