Awkward Exit on Sunday Brunch as Tom Kerridge Leaves Early
On Sunday, August 18, Channel 4’s popular daytime show, Sunday Brunch , returned to our screens for another lively episode filled with culinary delights, laughter, and music. Hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer, the show featured an array of guests including Vicky Pattinson, Jordan Stephens, Kerry Ellis, and Pete Tong. Musician Frank Turner also graced the stage with a performance, while TV chef Tom Kerridge was busy whipping up a tantalizing burger in the kitchen.
However, the episode took an unexpected turn when it was revealed that Tom Kerridge would be leaving the show earlier than anticipated. The moment unfolded during a light-hearted segment where co-host Simon Rimmer, after tasting Tom’s delicious burger, inquired about Tom’s departure. Simon asked, “You’re going now, aren’t you?” and followed up with, “You’re not staying for the rest of the show?” Tom responded straightforwardly, “I’m off!”

When Simon pressed further, Tom, who has been a frequent guest on Sunday Brunch , explained with a hint of humor, “That’s what time I was told I was going!” His response drew laughter from the other guests and the studio audience. Tom added, “12 shows in and I come up here, I do what I’m told then I go.” Tim Lovejoy couldn’t resist a playful jab, suggesting, “Maybe you got bored of coming,” which only prompted more laughter from Tom and the crew.
This light-hearted incident comes on the heels of a recent hiccup in the show’s previous episode, which had its own share of awkward moments. During that show, former Pop Idol winner Will Young accidentally let slip a swear word while recounting an uncomfortable experience at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Will described how a comedian’s show was unexpectedly interrupted upon recognizing him in the audience. The slip-up led Tim Lovejoy to issue a quick apology to viewers for the inappropriate language.
Despite these moments of unscripted chaos, Sunday Brunch continues to be a platform where both its hosts and guests share candid and often humorous exchanges. Whether it’s Tom Kerridge’s unexpected early exit or a live on-air mishap, the show remains a source of entertainment and surprise for its viewers every Sunday morning.
