Dolphins Turn to Tyler Huntley as Starting QB for Monday Night Showdown
The Miami Dolphins are making a significant quarterback change ahead of their Monday Night Football game against the Tennessee Titans. Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Tyler Huntley, signed off the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad, will start in place of Skylar Thompson, who is sidelined with a rib injury. This decision marks Miami’s third starting quarterback in as many weeks. Tim Boyle, who replaced Thompson in last Sunday's game, will serve as the backup.

Huntley steps into the role following a challenging stretch for Miami’s offense. Since star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion in Week 2, the Dolphins have struggled to find any rhythm, scoring just three points in two games. Now, Huntley has the chance to revive a team desperately in need of a spark. His mobility adds a new dimension to the offense, especially given the team's struggles with pass protection. McDaniel has expressed his appreciation for quarterbacks who can extend plays with their legs, which Huntley certainly can. The 26-year-old brings experience from his time with the Ravens, where he filled in admirably for Lamar Jackson and even led Baltimore to a playoff berth in 2022.
For Huntley, this game is also a homecoming. A native of South Florida, the pressure will be high, but the Dolphins' speedy receiving corps, including Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, could provide the veteran quarterback with valuable support. If Huntley can connect with his receivers in a quick-passing game, similar to how Tagovailoa thrived, Miami could have a chance to get back on track.
Miami, currently sitting at 1-2, will look to turn the tide against a winless Titans team on Monday. All eyes will be on Huntley as he takes the reins of a Dolphins offense eager to break its touchdown drought. The team will kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET, with fans hoping for a turnaround under the bright lights of Monday Night Football.
