DPlus KIA Secures Spot at LoL Worlds 2024 After Thrilling Victory Against T1
DPlus KIA’s recent victory over T1 in the LCK Regional Qualifier has secured their place as the third seed for the upcoming League of Legends World Championship 2024 (LoL Worlds 2024). In an intense, five-game series that kept fans on edge, DPlus KIA emerged victorious, earning a well-deserved spot at the prestigious international event.
After the match, the players of DPlus KIA reflected on their performance and the excitement of qualifying for Worlds. Hwang "Kingen" Seong-hoon expressed his satisfaction, emphasizing the team’s desire to play without regrets. “We really wanted to have an unregrettable and really good match today,” Kingen stated, highlighting how intense the games were, each lasting over 30 minutes. He admitted that the anxiety was high as they entered Game 5, but maintaining composure played a key role in their success.

Strategically, DPlus KIA took some calculated risks, such as leaving the Rumble pick open for T1. Kingen explained that the team had confidence T1 may not have had sufficient experience with Rumble, allowing DPlus KIA to focus on securing the Ziggs pick. Kim "Aiming" Ha-ram, who played Ziggs for most of the match before switching to Miss Fortune, credited their rising confidence as a crucial factor in their victory, noting that the team’s gameplay felt strong throughout.
Looking ahead to LoL Worlds 2024, the excitement among DPlus KIA players is palpable. For Choi "Lucid" Yong-hyeok and Jeong "Moham" Jae-hun, it will be their first time competing at Worlds. Both expressed gratitude for the opportunity and shared their eagerness to face international teams. Lucid acknowledged the challenges of competing against T1, describing it as a tough battle. However, he’s looking forward to testing himself against the best players in the world. Moham echoed this sentiment, emphasizing his trust in veteran teammate Heo "ShowMaker" Su, who reassured him throughout the match.
ShowMaker’s role in DPlus KIA’s success cannot be overstated. Having now qualified for Worlds six times in a row, he is an experienced leader. ShowMaker expressed immense relief at breaking free from a 15-match losing streak against T1’s legendary player, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, calling it a significant achievement. He also credited the team’s Challenger players for their behind-the-scenes contributions, helping the team prepare and practice.
