Kelly Madding Resigns as Medford's Deputy City Manager
Kelly Madding, Medford's Deputy City Manager, has officially announced her resignation, marking the end of a notable chapter in her career with the City. After serving in her role since 2020, Madding has become a respected figure within the community and in the local government landscape. She played a crucial role in assisting the city manager and ensuring that the vision of the city council and the mayor was executed effectively.
Kelly Madding’s career in public service extends beyond her time in Medford. She has a wealth of experience, having served in several other local government roles before joining Medford. Prior to this, she held the position of Ashland’s Administrator and worked in key roles for Jackson County and the cities of Talent and Rogue River. Madding’s resignation comes just ahead of the retirement of Medford’s current City Manager, Brian Sjothun, who is set to step down this fall. Over the summer, the Medford City Council selected Robert Field as Sjothun's successor. Madding had applied for the position but was not selected, which likely influenced her decision to step down.
In a heartfelt statement, Kelly Madding expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve Medford, emphasizing the positive relationships and experiences she has gained during her tenure. She thanked her colleagues and the community for their support, noting that while this marks the end of her role in the city government, it is not a complete farewell.
Medford's City Council President, Tim D’Alessandro, also praised Madding for her leadership and lasting impact on the community, highlighting how much she will be missed by her peers and the city as a whole.
As Medford prepares for this transition, the city will soon begin the search for a new deputy city manager, marking the end of an era with Kelly Madding’s departure.
