Raiders' Josh Papalii Under Investigation After Alleged Incident at Club
Josh Papalii, the prominent Canberra Raiders forward, is currently under police investigation following an incident at a licensed venue early Monday morning. According to reports, Papalii was allegedly involved in a disturbance at the Raiders Gungahlin Club, which drew the attention of ACT Police. The incident reportedly occurred around 3:10 a.m. when police were called to address two men who were behaving aggressively, including smashing glasses and refusing to leave the premises. After the initial intervention, the men exited the club but later re-entered, prompting another round of police engagement. The men were eventually escorted out by a third individual and left the location shortly thereafter. At this point, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing.

This incident comes on the heels of Papalii's recent recognition as the Raiders' club person of the year at their Mal Meninga Medal awards night. It also follows a series of previous controversies involving the player. Back in 2018, Papalii faced a suspension from a Test match for Australia due to a drink-driving charge, which he self-reported. His driving license was suspended for eight months, and he was fined $1000. Additionally, Papalii had been involved in a road-rage incident in 2014. His wife, Masepa Papalii, also recently made headlines for her involvement in a brawl at a women’s rugby league match, resulting in a ten-year ban from local games.
In light of these events, the Raiders and their fans are awaiting further details on the situation. Papalii’s on-field performances and his role as a veteran player with significant contributions to the team make this investigation particularly noteworthy. The outcome of this investigation could have implications for both his career and the team's dynamics as the season progresses. For now, the Raiders organization has yet to issue an official comment, and the focus remains on resolving the matter while maintaining the integrity of the team.
