Amber Anderson and Connor Swindells Tie the Knot in a Scottish Highlands Fairytale
In a heartwarming narrative that seems pulled straight from the pages of a romantic screenplay, actors Amber Anderson and Connor Swindells recently celebrated their union in a stunning wedding set against the picturesque backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. Their love story, which began on the set of Emma , took a delightful turn during the pandemic. As they navigated the challenges of lockdown, they found solace in each other’s company, ultimately transforming their friendship into a deep, supportive romance. “We ended up together during the first lockdown,” Amber recounts. “Living close to each other allowed us to bubble together and really support one another.”
Fast forward to a thrilling trip to Botswana, where Connor planned a romantic proposal that would forever seal their fate. With a clever ruse involving his best friend, who discreetly transported the engagement ring, Connor orchestrated the perfect moment. As they gathered near an ancient baobab tree, he seized the opportunity to pop the question, leading to an emotional "yes" from Amber, marking the beginning of their journey toward marriage.
With their engagement set, the couple chose Boath House in the Scottish Highlands as their wedding venue—a place of sentimental value for Amber, who grew up nearby. “I planned pretty much all of it,” she shares, emphasizing her love for organization and attention to detail. With help from Lindsay of Wide Sky Weddings in the final weeks, Amber was able to bring her dream day to life.

Choosing the right wedding dress proved to be a bit of a journey for Amber. Although she initially fell for the first dress she tried, she decided to visit Vivienne Westwood for another fitting. “I just knew as soon as I tried it on,” she reflects, highlighting how the dress made her feel confident and beautiful. Complemented by tulle gloves, Chanel jewelry, and striking silver shoes from Roger Vivier, Amber’s bridal ensemble was completed by a veil adorned with the couple's zodiac signs—a personal touch that almost slipped her mind until after the ceremony.
On the other hand, Connor opted for a tailored navy suit featuring details inspired by the Anderson tartan. He credited his tailor, Tom, for understanding his style and for the meticulous craftsmanship. The couple ensured their bridal party felt at ease by allowing Amber’s seven bridesmaids the freedom to choose their outfits, encouraging them to wear something that represented their individual styles.
The ceremony itself was a deeply meaningful affair, with Amber’s godmother stepping in to give her away in place of her father, who was unable to attend due to health issues. This heartfelt decision brought an emotional touch to the proceedings. The couple also included personal elements, such as having actor Alistair Petrie—Connor's on-screen father from Sex Education —officiate the ceremony, creating a unique blend of their personal and professional lives.
Guests were treated to a blend of traditional and modern touches, including a Celtic quaich ceremony, symbolizing unity and trust. Instead of a conventional wedding cake, the couple chose individual chocolate nemesis cakes, a nod to their favorite restaurant, the River Café. The décor was colorful and relaxed, designed to reflect a folksy ’70s aesthetic that set the tone for a joyful celebration.
As the night progressed, the couple delighted their guests with a lively ceilidh, featuring music from Amber's school friends, the Haggis Chasers. Amber, ever the enthusiast for fun, quickly changed into a second Vivienne Westwood ensemble that included a tartan corset and skirt, paired with biker boots for an evening of spirited dancing.
In true celebratory fashion, the festivities didn’t end with the wedding. The following day, Amber and Connor invited their guests for fish and chips at a local pub, ending the weekend with laughter and memories as everyone joyfully jumped into the North Sea. “I think that might have been my favorite moment of the weekend,” Amber says, perfectly encapsulating the spirit of their heartfelt celebration—a wedding that was both meaningful and refreshingly light-hearted.
