Bay Area Heat Wave Update: Warnings Downgraded, but Advisories Remain in Effect
In the latest update from the National Weather Service, all excessive heat warnings for the Bay Area have now been downgraded to heat advisories. While this signals a gradual cool-down in the region, it doesn’t mean the heat is over. Temperatures are still expected to remain above average, especially in inland areas, and the potential risks of high temperatures shouldn’t be ignored just yet.
For coastal areas, conditions have eased, with daytime highs expected to settle mostly in the upper 70s to 80s. However, inland regions and areas surrounding the bay could still see highs ranging from the 80s to well over 100 degrees. This is particularly true for regions like the North Bay interior valleys, the San Francisco Bay shoreline, and parts of the East Bay and South Bay, where temperatures will remain hot through the day.

The heat advisory, which is in effect until 11 p.m. tonight, serves as a reminder that even though the official "excessive heat" warnings have been lifted, conditions are still challenging. This is especially relevant for those who are outdoors for work or recreation, and for individuals who are more sensitive to heat, such as the elderly or those without adequate access to cooling.
Overnight temperatures won’t offer much relief, with lows mostly in the 50s and 60s across the Bay Area. These warmer-than-normal nighttime conditions can make it difficult for people to cool down after a hot day, increasing the potential for heat-related health issues.
Officials continue to urge residents to take precautions during this advisory. Limiting outdoor activities, especially in the afternoon when temperatures peak, can help prevent heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Staying hydrated and seeking air-conditioned spaces whenever possible is key for staying safe. Even though some relief is on the way, the heat will still linger in many parts of the Bay Area, and caution remains necessary.
In short, the heat wave is slowly losing its grip, but for many, the next day or so will still be uncomfortably hot. Stay informed, stay cool, and take care of yourself and those around you as we ride out the remainder of this heat advisory.
