
Biltmore Estate Set to Reopen After Hurricane Helene Just in Time for the Holidays
The iconic Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, has announced its reopening date following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. This sprawling, 8,000-acre estate, which houses America’s largest privately-owned home, had to close temporarily after the storm swept through the western Carolinas. Now, after weeks of recovery efforts, the estate is set to reopen on Saturday, November 2, just in time to welcome visitors for the holiday season.
Hurricane Helene was a force to be reckoned with, making landfall as a Category 4 storm and leaving a path of destruction across the southeastern U.S. North Carolina was particularly hard-hit, with Asheville experiencing significant damage. The Biltmore Estate, a landmark that draws visitors from across the globe, wasn't spared from the storm’s impact. For weeks, crews have been working tirelessly to repair damaged areas around the property, ensuring that the estate is ready to welcome guests once again.

Bill Cecil Jr., the president and CEO of Biltmore, expressed his gratitude for the support the community has received during this challenging time. In a statement, he emphasized the importance of the estate’s reopening, not only for the guests but also for the local economy. With Biltmore being such a significant part of Asheville’s tourism, its reopening signals a step forward in the broader recovery effort. "Welcoming guests back to Biltmore brings critical support to our region’s economy, aiding area employees, local businesses, and friends," Cecil said.
While the estate will be fully decorated for Christmas and most of its attractions, including restaurants and lodging, will be open, some areas like the trails and Outdoor Adventure Center will remain closed for further cleanup. Visitors are advised to plan for alternative routes, as some roads leading to the estate are still undergoing repairs.
