First Terrifier 3 Screening Sees Walkouts Due to Extreme Gore Hollywood Refused to Fund
The much-anticipated Terrifier 3 is already making waves in the horror world, and for good reason. During its first official UK screening, nine people reportedly walked out during the opening scene alone, with one confirmed instance of a fan vomiting. Known for pushing boundaries, director Damien Leone warned early on that the movie was so sadistic that major Hollywood studios refused to fund it. In fact, Leone revealed that the first five minutes of the film were so extreme, he had doubts any studio would let him create it without imposing restrictions.
In past interviews, Leone mentioned that he met with several major studios who expressed interest in Terrifier 3 . However, these discussions quickly ended when they realized just how gruesome the film’s content was, particularly in the opening scenes. Hollywood’s reluctance stemmed from concerns over the excessive gore and brutality, something that Terrifier fans have come to expect and love. Leone’s response to these concerns was simple: if Hollywood couldn’t stomach it, he would make it himself, which is exactly what he did.

Fans of the franchise are likely familiar with Art the Clown, the sadistic villain who made Terrifier 2 one of the goriest films in recent memory. Yet according to Leone, viewers haven’t seen anything yet. The director guarantees that the first five minutes of Terrifier 3 will spark controversy, setting the tone for what is to come. And shockingly, this opening isn’t even the film’s most gruesome scene.
Despite the intensity of the film, early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. Currently, Terrifier 3 holds a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many praising Leone’s ability to create a visceral experience that fans of the genre will appreciate. Critics like Alison Foreman from IndieWire called it a "triumphant celebration" of everything the franchise does well, while Chris Tilly of Dexerto declared it the best Terrifier installment yet, likening its murder scenes to an “art form.”
For those who revel in horror and gore, Terrifier 3 promises to be a must-watch, further cementing Art the Clown's reign of terror. The film is set to release in UK cinemas on October 11, and it’s clear that fans should brace themselves for an unforgettable, blood-soaked experience.
