Man Utd Fans Attacked by Fenerbahce Ultras in Istanbul Before Europa League Clash
Reports of violence surfaced ahead of Manchester United's Europa League clash with Fenerbahce in Istanbul, as several United fans were attacked by a group of Fenerbahce ultras. Another incident saw glasses thrown at a smaller group of United fans in a separate attack. In a video posted by the Fenerbahce ultras, which was shared under the banner of the notorious Bogaz Hooligans group, the attackers can be seen ambushing United fans, with the footage captioned, "This is Istanbul." The hooligans have not shied away from their actions, openly boasting about the ambush and the violence inflicted on the visiting fans. This behavior has prompted calls for strict sanctions against Fenerbahce from both UEFA and FIFA, as safety concerns for travelling fans continue to escalate.
The attacks come just before Manchester United's highly anticipated Europa League match against Fenerbahce, adding to the tense atmosphere surrounding the fixture.
