Nishadh Yusuf: Celebrated Editor Found Dead in Kochi Apartment
The Malayalam and Tamil film industries were rocked this week by the tragic news of Nishadh Yusuf's untimely passing. Nishadh, an acclaimed film editor known for his innovative and impactful work, was found dead in his apartment in Kochi, reportedly by suicide. Early Wednesday morning, police responded to an alert from his wife, Shifa, who was concerned after Nishadh had not opened his door despite repeated calls. When authorities arrived and accessed the locked room, they discovered Nishadh hanging from a ceiling fan. Medical personnel later confirmed his death. While the reasons behind this tragedy are not fully clear, the shockwave it has sent through the film community is undeniable.

Starting off with director Vinayan’s Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya in 2011, his path through the industry was marked by intentional choices and a commitment to quality. Known to take on projects only when he saw potential, Nishadh chose to focus on work that he felt passionate about, a trait that garnered respect from directors and peers alike. His vision was especially celebrated by directors who found his editing style refreshing and transformative. This respect led him to be involved in high-profile projects like Bazooka , a Mammootty starrer, and Kanguva , a highly anticipated Tamil-language film headlined by Suriya and set for release in November.

After his body was taken for an autopsy, Nishadh's family held a ceremony in his hometown in Alappuzha, where friends, family, and fans gathered to honor his life and work.
