Qatar Airways Launches Non-Stop Service Between Doha and Toronto
In an exciting development for international travelers, Qatar Airways has announced the launch of a new non-stop service connecting Doha, Qatar, to Toronto, Canada. This new route is set to commence on December 11, 2024, and aims to provide seamless travel options, particularly for the Punjabi diaspora residing in Toronto. The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from various quarters, especially the FlyAmritsar Initiative (FAI), which sees this service as a boon for those seeking alternatives to the traditional travel routes through Delhi.
The introduction of this non-stop flight will significantly ease travel for many, offering a more direct connection to Canada. Sameep Singh Gumtala, a representative from FAI, expressed gratitude for the new service, emphasizing how it will enhance travel options for Punjabis in Toronto who have long sought more convenient flight paths. Anantdeep Singh Dhillon, also from FAI, provided further details about the flight schedule. Passengers can expect an early morning departure from Amritsar at 4:10 AM, landing in Doha at 6:05 AM. After a layover of about 3 hours and 45 minutes, they will board the Doha to Toronto flight at 9:50 AM, arriving in Toronto the same day at 3:55 PM.

For the return journey, flights will leave Toronto at 8 PM and reach Doha the next day at 4:30 PM. Following a brief layover, passengers will continue their journey to Amritsar, landing there at 2:40 AM the following morning. The total travel time, including layovers, is approximately 20 hours and 10 minutes. This new route not only simplifies travel logistics but also reduces the time and hassle associated with long road journeys to Delhi, extended layovers, and multiple check-ins.
Currently, Qatar Airways operates daily direct flights from Amritsar, allowing passengers to connect easily via Doha to numerous destinations in the United States and Montreal in Canada. With the launch of the Toronto route, Amritsar will now enjoy a total of 10 weekly flights to Canada through Doha, providing a much-needed alternative for travelers who have faced difficulties navigating previous connections.
Additionally, the introduction of other carriers, such as Neos Air, is further enhancing travel options. Neos offers a route from Amritsar to Toronto via Milan, with plans to increase its frequency from two to four weekly flights in December. This growing network of international connections is a significant step forward for the region, making it easier for families and friends to connect across borders.
So, the new non-stop service by Qatar Airways marks a pivotal moment in air travel for the Punjabi community and beyond. As travel continues to evolve post-pandemic, this route promises to provide a more efficient, user-friendly experience, making the world a little more accessible for everyone.
