Everything You Need to Know About the Hottest 100 of 2025
It’s that time of year again! Time to think back on all the incredible tunes that have been on repeat over the last 12 months, and perhaps regret not starting that long list of your favorite tracks earlier. As we prepare for the Hottest 100 of 2025, fans are gearing up for another round of voting and anticipation as triple j gets ready to count down the biggest songs of the year.
Voting for the Hottest 100 has officially opened! If you haven’t done so already, you’ve got until 15 January 2026 to cast your vote. You can head over to the official triple j website, log in (or create an account), and choose your top 10 tracks from over 1000 eligible songs. Whether you go by song name or artist name, it’s all up to you to whittle down your favorites. You don’t have to hit 10 tracks if you’re not feeling it—anything from one to ten songs can be submitted. Just remember, it's tough, and only the best will make the cut!
Mark your calendars for the big day: the Hottest 100 will be broadcast live on Saturday, 24 January 2026, starting from 12pm AEDT. For our friends on the West Coast, that’s 9am. You can listen to the countdown in a variety of ways—via triple j’s website, on DAB or digital radio, on TV, or the classic FM radio. Whether you’re hanging out with friends or relaxing solo, it’s the perfect opportunity to revisit the tunes that defined your year.

This year, there’s a little twist for the day after. Instead of the usual recovery sessions, Double J will take over and throw it back to 2005, so you can kick back and enjoy the nostalgia of another Hottest 100. But the fun doesn’t stop there! The Hottest 200 will be a week-long event, starting 27 January 2026. From 8am and 4pm each day, the countdown will run through the tracks that almost made it, up to the beloved number 101. Then, on 31 January, the full 200 list will be played out, giving you a chance to catch up on all the songs that nearly made the top 100.

After voting, head over to the entry page and answer in 25 words or less: what was the best Aussie act you saw in 2025? A simple but exciting prize!
As for this year’s eligible tracks, any song released between 1 December 2024 and 30 November 2025 can be voted for. From indie hits like The Wombats’ “My Head Is Not My Friend” to Wafia’s “Tranquillity,” there are so many incredible tunes to choose from. And if you can’t find a song in the list, you can manually add it, as long as it meets the eligibility criteria.
Of course, there’s also exclusive Hottest 100 merch this year, featuring artwork by Conor Dewhurst. Whether you want a t-shirt or other gear, you can grab your Hottest 100 swag in time for the big event.
Finally, triple j is once again partnering with We Are Mobilise, a charity that helps combat homelessness across Australia. Last year, over $400k was raised, and the funds went towards providing housing for those in need. It’s a wonderful cause, and your votes this year will help support it even further.
