On November 23rd and 24th, the village of Ollolai will open its doors to visitors, showcasing the essence of this charming mountain town located in the heart of the island. As the region celebrates the fall season, Ollolai's streets come alive with culture, history, and local gastronomy.
Nestled atop a hill surrounded by the dense forests of oak, yew, and wild pear trees, Ollolai is home to the ancient Byzantine Church of San Basilio Magno. The area is a paradise for nature lovers, with breathtaking views of the surrounding Gennargentu mountain range, including the peaks of Punta Manna and Punta de S’Aschisorju. From these heights, visitors can catch sight of the surrounding seas on clear days, making it an ideal destination for hikers.
In the heart of Ollolai, the main square is where you’ll find the Church of San Michele. Inside, admire the works of local artist Carmelo Floris, whose paintings capture the everyday life and traditional festivals of Ollolai, including beautiful depictions of the women of the village dressed in their stunning traditional attire.
