School Closures and Delays for Friday, November 22 Amid Weather Challenges
As the weather takes a turn this Friday, November 22, many schools are adjusting their schedules due to adverse conditions. A combination of icy weather and heavy snow has led to delays, closures, and schedule alterations across multiple regions. Here's a rundown of the latest updates.
In Kentucky, several school districts have already announced closures for the day. Bell County Schools, along with Floyd County Schools, Harlan County Schools, and Jackson Independent Schools, will all be closed for the day. These districts are implementing Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days, meaning students will continue their lessons remotely. Likewise, Knox County Schools, Leslie County Schools, Letcher County Schools, and Middlesboro Independent Schools are also closed, with varying NTI days in place.

Additionally, other districts such as Morgan County Schools, Pineville Independent, and Red Bird Christian School will not hold in-person classes today. Some of these districts are observing NTI days, with Pineville Independent School using NTI Day #3. Wolfe County Schools has also joined the closure list, marking NTI Day #1.
In the area of daycare services, Small Wonders Daycare has closed its doors for the day due to the weather. Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College has also suspended in-person operations, switching to remote learning for the day.
These weather-related disruptions are attributed to freezing temperatures and snow that swept across the region on Thursday evening, creating hazardous conditions for travel. Authorities urge families to stay updated as conditions may continue to evolve. For more information, schools and local news outlets will keep updating their closures and delays throughout the day.
If you're in the affected areas, be sure to stay safe and check with your school or local authorities for the most accurate and up-to-date information on closures and schedule changes.
