Zach Hyman Eyes a Return During Oilers' Road Trip

In a promising update for Edmonton Oilers fans, forward Zach Hyman is optimistic about rejoining the lineup during the team’s ongoing three-game road trip. Hyman, who sustained an injury on November 19 during a 5-2 victory against the Ottawa Senators, has missed the past two games but was back on the ice for practice Thursday. While a specific return date hasn’t been set, Hyman will travel with the team, leaving open the possibility of his participation in upcoming matchups.

Hyman’s injury occurred late in the second period of the Ottawa game after a collision with Senators defenseman Nick Jensen. The absence of the skilled forward, who has already contributed eight points in 20 games this season, has been felt, even as the Oilers managed to split their last two games without him. Known for his high-energy play and scoring ability, Hyman’s return would bolster Edmonton’s offensive lineup, especially as the team faces tough opponents like the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights.

“I'm feeling alright,” Hyman shared after Thursday’s practice. “I’m getting better every day and just taking it day by day. I don’t like missing games—I love being out there with the guys—but it’s out of my control. For now, it’s about focusing on recovery.”

Head coach Kris Knoblauch expressed similar optimism, stating that Hyman is making good progress and might see game action before the road trip concludes. Last season, Hyman had a career-best performance with 77 points, including 54 goals. However, this year has been more challenging, as he has faced a dip in scoring, which analysts attribute to poor luck rather than a decline in form. His shooting percentage has dropped significantly, but his expected goal metrics suggest his production will rebound.

Fans and teammates alike are eager for Hyman’s return, recognizing his ability to influence games with his relentless effort and goal-scoring prowess. If his recovery continues smoothly, the Oilers could see him back on the ice as early as next week. For now, the team will hope his presence on the road trip serves as a motivating factor as they aim to build momentum.
