Alex Cooper Expands Brand Empire with Launch of Unwell Hydration Drink
Alex Cooper, the popular host of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, is venturing into the world of beverages with the launch of a new electrolyte drink called Unwell Hydration. Set to hit shelves and online stores starting January 1, 2024, the drink is designed to offer a refreshing blend of hydration, energy, and wellness. Partnering with Nestlé, Cooper is introducing the drink in three exciting flavors: Strawberry, Mango Citrus, and Orange Hibiscus. Each bottle of Unwell Hydration contains 700mg of electrolytes, B vitamins, and a light energy boost from green coffee extract, all packed into a low-sugar formula aimed primarily at women.
The inspiration for the product came from Cooper's own experiences, both as a former Division 1 soccer player and as someone who has navigated the challenges of adulthood. As she reflects on her younger years, Cooper recalls the importance of hydration in her athletic career, but also the struggles of hangovers during her college days. Now, as a busy professional, she recognizes the need to take care of her body and stay hydrated, especially when dealing with stress or a lack of energy. For Cooper, Unwell Hydration is a perfect solution, offering an alternative to heavily caffeinated beverages while still delivering the energy boost many seek in the morning or after a long night out.

Unwell Hydration also stands out for its focus on a demographic that Cooper believes is underserved by current hydration brands—the women’s market. As she pointed out during a conversation at the DealBook Summit, most energy and hydration drinks are tailored to men, leaving a gap in the market for a beverage that better aligns with the needs of women. Cooper's venture into the beverage space is just one of many strategic moves as she continues to grow her media empire. Beyond her podcast, she has launched Unwell Network, a media platform producing podcasts by influencers, and signed a lucrative three-year deal with SiriusXM worth up to $125 million.
In addition to launching Unwell Hydration, Cooper is reportedly working on other projects within her media network, with the aim of expanding and strengthening her brand even further. Unwell Hydration is part of a growing trend of celebrity-backed products, following in the footsteps of other stars who have successfully entered the beverage and wellness industries. Cooper, however, is adamant that her new product isn't just another celebrity brand—it’s a personal passion project, born out of her own life experiences and designed with authenticity in mind.
Fans of Cooper, known as the "Daddy Gang," are already buzzing with excitement as they anticipate the launch. With over 118,000 followers on an Instagram account dedicated to the new product, Cooper is building a buzz that will surely amplify the launch come January. She plans to showcase the drink in various ways, including social media promotions and through personal experiences, highlighting the versatility of Unwell Hydration as both a hangover remedy and a pre-workout refreshment.
Unwell Hydration will initially be available exclusively at Target and online at Target.com, with more retailers expected to carry the product later in the year. The drink is priced at $2.49 per bottle or $15 for an eight-pack, making it a budget-friendly option for those seeking an easy, effective way to hydrate and energize. With Unwell Hydration, Alex Cooper is solidifying her place not just as a podcasting sensation, but also as an entrepreneur with a finger on the pulse of wellness trends.
