After previously working with Nolan on The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Interstellar (2014), Hathaway is thrilled to join the star-studded cast of his upcoming film, currently shrouded in secrecy. The actress shared her excitement, describing the opportunity to work with Nolan once again as a dream come true. “It fills me with so much joy,” she told Women’s Wear Daily, “and to be invited into their world, it’s one of the best places you can find yourself.”
Hathaway explained how she never imagined returning for a third film with Nolan, expressing how emotional it felt to receive the invitation. “Getting to be invited twice felt like something, three felt like it would’ve been greedy,” she said, admitting that she never allowed herself to hope it would happen. Reflecting on how Nolan impacted her career, Hathaway credits him with playing a crucial role in reviving her acting trajectory. After winning an Oscar for Les Misérables , Hathaway faced a wave of online mockery, which led to a challenging period for her career. She even recalled Googling herself and finding a headline that read, “Why does everyone hate Anne Hathaway?” During this rough patch, it was Christopher Nolan who extended a hand, offering her a role in Interstellar as Dr. Amelia Brand, a NASA scientist. Hathaway remembers that moment fondly, as Nolan’s decision to cast her provided a much-needed boost and helped her overcome the toxicity that surrounded her.
“This was vitalizing, reviving, encouraging,” Hathaway said about landing the Interstellar role. “Getting ‘Interstellar’ at any point in your life would have been a career highlight, but for me personally, it was the safest and most exhilarating place I could ever be as an actor and as a human.”
The excitement isn’t limited to Hathaway alone; the upcoming Nolan film has also drawn attention from other stars, including Tom Holland, who described the call about joining the cast as “the phone call of a lifetime.” The highly anticipated film, slated for release in July 2026, promises to be another masterpiece in Nolan’s distinguished career. Shooting is set to begin in early 2025, but details about the plot remain under wraps, leaving fans eagerly speculating about what Nolan has in store next.
Hathaway’s return to Nolan’s world is not just a professional achievement, but a personal milestone, and as the actress embarks on this third collaboration, she is reminded of how far she has come in her career and the powerful impact Nolan had on her journey.
