Arctic Cat Temporarily Halts Production Amid Weak Demand for Off-Road Vehicles
In a significant move that has captured the attention of the off-road vehicle industry, Textron, the parent company of Arctic Cat, has announced that it will be suspending operations at two of its production facilities. This decision is a response to ongoing weak demand for recreational off-road vehicles, including snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles. In fact, back in November 2023, the company outlined a restructuring plan designed to streamline its operations and improve financial performance. One key aspect of this plan was reducing the workforce at Textron Specialized Vehicles (TSV), the division responsible for the Powersports line. According to Textron, while demand for certain products remains soft, the company is considering various strategic alternatives to improve performance in this sector.

The company has indicated that the total inventory charge could impact its adjusted profit by approximately 12 to 16 cents per share for the year 2024.
