The swift collapse of Assad’s regime came as rebel forces, spearheaded by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other factions, seized control of key cities, including Homs, Deir el-Zor, and Damascus itself. HTS leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani declared this a victory for the "Islamic nation" during an address at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. The rebel coalition now faces the immense challenge of establishing a unified governing body, emphasizing their intention to rebuild Syria collaboratively and ensure stability.
