Australia Women Dominate India for ODI Series Sweep in Perth
The third ODI at the WACA, Perth, witnessed a clinical performance from Australia Women as they sealed a comprehensive 83-run victory over India Women, completing a 3-0 series sweep. Annabel Sutherland and Ashleigh Gardner delivered standout performances, leading Australia to a commanding win in front of their home crowd.
Australia, opting to bat first, found themselves in trouble early on, with Arundhati Reddy wreaking havoc in the powerplay. Reddy, playing her first match of the series, bowled with precision and swing, taking four crucial wickets to leave the hosts reeling at 78 for 4. However, Sutherland rose to the occasion, crafting a magnificent 110 off 95 balls, becoming the first Australian woman to score an ODI century batting at No. 5 or lower. Her knock was laced with nine boundaries and four sixes, rescuing Australia to a formidable total of 298 for 6.

Sutherland found valuable support in Gardner and Tahlia McGrath, who contributed with half-centuries. Gardner’s 50 and McGrath’s unbeaten 56 allowed Australia to recover and accelerate in the latter stages. Despite Reddy’s heroic spell of 4 for 26, India’s other bowlers struggled to maintain control, while sloppy fielding and dropped catches let the hosts off the hook.
Chasing 299, India’s hopes rested heavily on Smriti Mandhana, who delivered a sublime 105 off 109 balls, her fourth ODI century of the year. Her partnership with Harleen Deol (39) added 118 runs, offering India a glimmer of hope. However, Gardner’s career-best figures of 5 for 30 dismantled India’s middle and lower order. Mandhana’s dismissal in the 36th over triggered a collapse, with India losing their last seven wickets for just 26 runs, bowled out for 215 in 45.1 overs.
This victory reaffirmed Australia’s dominance in home conditions, showcasing their depth and resilience. While Mandhana and Reddy shone brightly for India, the collective brilliance of Sutherland and Gardner ensured Australia’s commanding clean sweep in the ODI series.
