
Chaos at Yodel Depot Leaves Christmas Deliveries Stuck in Backlog
The holiday season is supposed to be a time of joy, but for many shoppers, it has turned into a frustrating waiting game. These parcels, which include food boxes from companies like Hello Fresh and Gusto, are particularly problematic, as they have a short shelf life and must be delivered quickly. The insider who provided the footage revealed that many of these perishables were being discarded after sitting too long in the depot, further contributing to the holiday chaos.

Staff members have described their frustration, citing that the depot is running on only a fraction of the workers needed. Despite 11 people being scheduled for shifts, many positions remain unfilled, leaving those who are working to deal with an overwhelming amount of parcels. One worker shared their concern, saying, "It’s hard because this is people’s Christmas stuff. I have kids myself, and it’s heartbreaking when things are shattered or delayed." Delivery drivers, who are under tremendous pressure, have also been struggling to cope with the sheer volume of parcels.
Meanwhile, shoppers have expressed their anger online, complaining about the delays and the lack of communication from Yodel. Many customers have been waiting weeks for their packages, with no clear timeline on when their items will arrive. Social media platforms have been flooded with frustrated posts from people demanding answers. One customer noted, “Yodel has had my parcel for two weeks, and all they can say is they’re waiting for a driver. Avoid them!”
Yodel, facing this mounting criticism, has issued a statement acknowledging the delays. The company explained that they are experiencing "record-breaking volumes" of packages due to the surge in demand during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. They assured customers that they are working to adapt their schedules and improve operations as they head into the final stretch before Christmas. Despite these efforts, the damage may already be done for many customers whose gifts may arrive too late to make it under the tree.
