Dolphins' Grant DuBose Hospitalized After Severe On-Field Collision

A troubling moment unfolded during Sunday’s Miami Dolphins vs. Houston Texans game when Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose suffered a serious head injury following a violent hit from Texans safety Calen Bullock. The collision occurred as DuBose ran a slant route and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa delivered a quick pass. Bullock’s effort to break up the play succeeded but left DuBose motionless on the field, prompting immediate concern from players, fans, and officials.

Medical personnel acted swiftly, immobilizing DuBose on the field. His jersey and pads were cut off, and his facemask was removed to secure him on a stretcher. This unsettling scene halted the game for 12 minutes. Teammates and staff formed a circle, kneeling in prayer for the 23-year-old as Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel and Texans coach DeMeco Ryans shared an emotional embrace on the sideline.

DuBose, who has been sparingly used this season, was playing in only his third game of the year after being activated from injured reserve just a day earlier. Following his rookie season with no game appearances and an offseason release by the Green Bay Packers, the Dolphins claimed him, offering a new opportunity. Despite limited playing time, DuBose’s talent and resilience had earned him a chance to contribute this season.

After being transported to a nearby hospital, the Dolphins reported that DuBose was in stable condition but would remain under observation overnight. Head coach Mike McDaniel emphasized the importance of his recovery over the remainder of the season.

The Dolphins’ playoff hopes took a significant blow with their 20-12 loss to the Texans, dropping their record to 6-8. With just three games left, Miami faces slim postseason prospects. DuBose’s injury adds to the team’s struggles, as fellow wideout Jaylen Waddle also left the game earlier with a knee issue.

The next steps will focus on DuBose’s health and recovery. For the young receiver, the priority now is regaining full strength, with his teammates, coaches, and fans rallying around him during this challenging time.
