Flames Recall Jakob Pelletier and Walker Duehr for a Fresh Offensive Spark
The Calgary Flames have taken decisive steps to bolster their lineup by recalling forwards Jakob Pelletier and Walker Duehr from the Calgary Wranglers. This strategic move comes as the team deals with injuries and aims to inject fresh energy into their roster.
Jakob Pelletier, a standout 23-year-old forward, has been making waves in the AHL this season. In 20 games with the Wranglers, Pelletier has demonstrated his playmaking prowess, notching three goals and an impressive 16 assists, totaling 19 points. His 16 assists rank him fourth among all AHL players, showcasing his ability to create scoring opportunities. Pelletier, the Flames' first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft (26th overall), brings NHL experience with 37 games under his belt. During that stint, he tallied four goals and six assists. His combination of skill and determination will be a welcome addition to the Flames’ offensive lineup.

Joining him is Walker Duehr, a 26-year-old forward who has been a consistent contributor for the Wranglers. Duehr has already racked up 11 goals and eight assists in 20 AHL games this season, making him the team’s second-highest scorer. Known for his grit and scoring ability, Duehr recently added to his resume with a goal in his last outing on November 29. Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2021, he has amassed 68 NHL games, contributing nine goals and 18 points. His tenacity and offensive instincts make him a valuable asset for the Flames as they navigate a challenging stretch of the season.
The recalls come as the Flames place forward Justin Kirkland on injured reserve and reassign Adam Klapka to the AHL. These changes reflect the team’s commitment to adapting and finding the right balance in their lineup as they push forward in the NHL season.
