After teasing fans with limited-time events, it seems that Epic has finally decided to make this mode a regular addition, and it comes with its own seasons, battle pass, and much more. The much-anticipated Fortnite OG mode will officially launch on December 6 at the daily reset time. For those in the U.S., this means 6 AM PT and 9 AM ET, unless Epic decides to activate it earlier in the morning. Once it goes live, players will be able to dive right into a nostalgic experience that channels the early days of Fortnite. It will be available indefinitely and will have its own set of seasons and battle passes, giving players an ongoing sense of progression.

As for the weapon list, Fortnite OG is bringing back a selection of fan-favorite guns from the earlier days of the game. These include the Assault Rifle, Burst Assault Rifle, Scoped Assault Rifle, Pump Shotgun, Tactical Shotgun, Revolver, Submachine Gun, and the iconic Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. Other classics like the Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, Damage Trap, Ceiling Zapper, and Wall Dynamo are also making a return. However, it’s worth noting that Epic has confirmed more weapons will be added over time, so players can expect a dynamic experience.
While the focus is on recreating the classic Fortnite experience, some quality of life improvements from the last seven years will be carried over. For example, there will be reboot vans, sniper scope glints, and players will have a max building resource limit of 999. Additionally, the double pump mechanic will be enabled for shotguns, allowing players to use two shotguns in rapid succession, a feature that was once a staple of Fortnite gameplay. As for building mechanics, they will remain the same as they are today, and new movement options like sprinting, sliding, mantling, door bashing, and moving while healing will be included. However, there will be no wall running in this iteration of the mode.
The Fortnite OG Battle Pass will also follow a slightly different format. Instead of the typical long season lengths, the first Fortnite OG season will run until January 31, 2025, giving players just under two months to unlock all the rewards. This season will feature 45 tiers with a modern twist on classic outfits, including skins like Renegade Rebel, Aerial Assault Bomber, and Skull Commander, each with unlockable alternative styles. The Battle Pass will be usable across all Fortnite modes, not just OG, allowing players to earn XP no matter which mode they prefer.
While some fans may worry that the magic of Fortnite OG will be lost now that it’s a permanent mode, it’s clear that Epic Games is responding to a massive demand from the community.
