Peabody Eager to Reclaim Councillor Role at County Council After Warden Duties
Chris Peabody, the Mayor of Brockton, is eagerly anticipating his return to his role as a councillor at the upcoming inaugural meeting of Bruce County Council on December 5. After an eventful tenure as the Bruce County warden, Peabody will pass on the prestigious chain of office to his successor, Luke Charbonneau, who serves as the deputy warden from Saugeen Shores. This transition marks a new chapter for Peabody as he steps back from the leadership role, eager to contribute once more as a county councillor.
During his time as warden, Peabody led with dedication and focus, helping to steer the county through various challenges. As outgoing warden, he expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the past year and the collaborative work with fellow council members to achieve meaningful progress for Bruce County. The shift from warden to councillor, while significant, does not diminish his commitment to his community and county.

The change also comes with new responsibilities for others within the county leadership. Charbonneau, who takes over as the county's warden, will bring his own leadership style and vision to the table. Don Murray from Huron-Kinloss will step in as the new deputy warden, complementing Charbonneau’s leadership. Together, they will lead the county council through a new term, ensuring that Bruce County continues to develop in ways that benefit its residents.
Peabody’s return to his councillor role represents a shift back to grassroots governance, where his focus will be on direct community needs. Despite having held the warden’s office, Peabody remains deeply invested in the local issues that matter most to Brockton residents and the broader county. He has always emphasized a hands-on approach to leadership, one where collaboration with community members and fellow councillors plays a pivotal role in decision-making.
Looking ahead, Peabody is excited to re-engage with the council, contributing his experience and insights to shape policies that support the growth and sustainability of the region. As he steps down from the warden’s chair, his dedication to service remains unchanged, and he is ready to get back to work representing the interests of his constituents at the county level.
