YouTube TV Price Increase: Monthly Subscription Now $83
YouTube TV, Google’s popular live TV streaming service, is set to get more expensive. Starting in January, the price for the platform's base plan will increase from $73 to $83 per month. For new subscribers, the updated price takes effect immediately, while existing users will see the changes reflected in their billing cycle on or after January 13, 2024.
According to a YouTube TV spokesperson, the decision stems from rising content costs and ongoing investments in service quality. They emphasized that such pricing adjustments are not made lightly and reminded users of the flexibility to cancel subscriptions at any time.

This marks the second price hike in less than two years. In March 2023, the cost of the base plan jumped from $65 to $73 per month. The new increase now places YouTube TV at the same $83 price point as Hulu Plus Live TV. However, Hulu’s package includes additional services like Disney+ (with ads), Hulu (with ads), and ESPN+. Additionally, Hulu Plus Live TV offers access to regional sports networks such as NBC Sports Boston, SNY, and Monumental Sports in select areas.
Streaming TV, as a whole, is becoming more expensive across the board. Competitors like Disney also raised prices for Hulu and its live TV streaming options in October 2024. These adjustments reflect the evolving landscape of digital entertainment, where providers are grappling with increased licensing fees and higher operational costs.
Despite the increase, YouTube TV remains a popular choice among cord-cutters, offering a broad range of live channels and features like unlimited DVR storage. However, with price competition tightening and bundled offerings from rivals, users may find themselves reevaluating their streaming choices.
For those considering alternatives or exploring the best live TV streaming options, this news serves as a reminder to weigh costs, included services, and personal preferences to find the perfect fit.
