Coco Gauff Reflects on Australian Open Loss with Optimism
Coco Gauff's journey at the 2025 Australian Open came to an end after a hard-fought quarterfinal loss to Spain's Paula Badosa. Despite entering the match with an impressive 13-match winning streak and high expectations following her 2023 US Open victory, Gauff acknowledged that her performance left room for improvement. Her revamped forehand and serve, key aspects she had worked on since a disappointing US Open exit last year, faltered under pressure. The 20-year-old American ultimately succumbed to Badosa in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
While visibly disappointed, Gauff took the defeat in stride. “I’m obviously disappointed, but I’m not completely crushed,” she shared post-match. She credited her growth and maturity for helping her stay focused on the positives.
