Princess Beatrice Welcomes Baby Daughter Athena

Big news from the royal family! Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have welcomed their second child together—a baby girl named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. Born on January 22 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, baby Athena arrived several weeks early, weighing just 4 pounds 5 ounces. Despite the early arrival, both mother and daughter are said to be doing well.

Buckingham Palace announced the joyful news, stating that King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family were "delighted" at Athena's safe arrival. The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson—Beatrice’s mother—expressed her happiness on social media, saying she felt incredibly blessed to be a grandmother once again.

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, the proud father, also took to social media, calling Athena "tiny and absolutely perfect." He shared a heartwarming photo of his newborn daughter wrapped in a blanket, with her little hand covering her face—possibly to maintain some privacy. The couple also took a moment to thank the hospital staff for their exceptional care during this special time.

Athena joins her older sister, Sienna, born in 2021, and her half-brother Wolfie, Edoardo’s son from a previous relationship. The name "Athena" carries deep historical significance, as in Greek mythology, Athena was the goddess of wisdom and war. Her middle names, Elizabeth and Rose, likely honor the late Queen Elizabeth II and perhaps a family tradition.

This marks another special chapter for Princess Beatrice, who has always been a strong advocate for charitable causes, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and Big Change, a foundation supporting young people’s development.

As the 11th in line to the British throne, baby Athena may not have a royal title, but she is certainly receiving a royal welcome! Congratulations to the happy family!
