BT Email Outage Leaves Thousands of Customers Frustrated
If you're a BT email user, chances are you've had a frustrating morning. Thousands of customers across the UK have reported being locked out of their BT email accounts due to a widespread outage that started early Saturday morning. Reports began pouring in around 5:00 AM GMT, with Downdetector registering over 5,000 complaints from users unable to access their emails.
BT has acknowledged the issue, stating that they are investigating the cause and working on a fix. The company has also suggested a temporary workaround—switching off Wi-Fi and using mobile data to access emails. However, this solution has only worked for some users, leaving many still unable to log in.

Social media platforms have been flooded with complaints from frustrated customers, demanding updates and explanations. One user wrote, "BT, why is email down again? No updates on your website, no communication—just silence!" Another user echoed the frustration, saying, "Customer service is overwhelmed, and there's no estimated time for a fix. Just tell us what's happening!"
Interestingly, while BT’s email services have taken a hit, other services like broadband, TV, and mobile remain unaffected. This suggests the issue is isolated to their email servers rather than a broader network failure.
This outage comes at a particularly frustrating time for BT customers, as the company is set to increase broadband and mobile prices by up to £3 a month starting in March. Many users are now questioning whether these rising costs are justified when service disruptions continue to happen without clear communication from the company.
At this point, BT has not provided an exact timeline for when the issue will be resolved. If you’re affected, the best you can do for now is try using mobile data, keep an eye on BT’s service updates (if they provide any), and wait for the fix. Let’s hope BT sorts this out soon.
