Canada Express Entry Draw: IRCC Issues More ITAs to PNP Candidates

Hey everyone! Some big news just dropped in the world of Canadian immigration. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has just issued 646 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry system, specifically targeting candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). If you’re following Canada’s immigration trends, you know this is a significant update!

Now, to qualify for this draw, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 750 and had to create their Express Entry profile before July 23, 2024, at 5:41 PM UTC . This draw marks the third Express Entry round this month, following a PNP draw on February 4 (which invited 455 candidates) and a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on February 5 , where 4,000 ITAs were issued.

So, what’s the bigger picture here? Since the beginning of 2025, IRCC has mainly focused on Express Entry draws for PNP and CEC candidates , moving away from category-based draws that were prominent in 2024. That means French speakers, healthcare workers, and skilled tradespeople —who were previously a priority—haven’t been included in recent draws. However, IRCC has still committed to landing 41,700 permanent residents in these priority groups through the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan .

If we look at the recent trend, we see a mix of different types of draws:

Also Read:
  • February 19 : 6,500 ITAs for French language proficiency candidates ( CRS: 428 )
  • February 17 : 646 ITAs for PNP candidates ( CRS: 750 )
  • February 5 : 4,000 ITAs for CEC candidates ( CRS: 521 )
  • February 4 : 455 ITAs for PNP candidates ( CRS: 802 )

So, what does this mean for people looking to immigrate to Canada? Well, if you have a low CRS score , you might feel discouraged, but don’t lose hope! There are still good reasons to enter the Express Entry pool. For one, CRS score cut-offs fluctuate, and you never know when your score might be enough for an invitation. Plus, the tie-breaking rule means earlier profiles have an advantage when there’s a tie.

Another thing to keep in mind is that your CRS score can improve over time while you’re in the pool. If you boost your language skills, gain more work experience, or improve your education credentials, your score can go up without needing to create a new profile. Also, being in the Express Entry pool makes you eligible for other immigration programs, including enhanced PNP streams and pilot programs .

So, if you’re thinking about moving to Canada but your CRS score isn’t where you want it to be, it’s still worth creating a profile and keeping an eye on future draws. With Express Entry constantly evolving, opportunities are always opening up! Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s see how the next rounds play out. 🚀
