Big news for Marvel fans! Daredevil: Born Again is just around the corner, and it’s bringing back most of the beloved cast from the original Netflix series. A new casting notice suggests that Marvel is looking for a Greek woman in her 40s for a recurring role in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. Now, if you know your Daredevil lore, that description immediately brings one name to mind—Elektra. Played by Elodie Yung in the original series and The Defenders , Elektra was a fierce love interest and deadly assassin who had a deep, complicated relationship with Matt Murdock. So, is Marvel bringing Elektra back but with a new actress? That’s the big question.
This isn’t the first time rumors have swirled about Elektra being recast. A few years ago, Eiza González had to shut down speculation that she was taking over the role. Even Elodie Yung herself once admitted that she hadn’t been asked to return. However, it’s possible that her busy schedule with The Cleaning Lady , a show currently entering its fourth season, could be a factor. Maybe it’s a creative decision, or maybe it’s just a scheduling conflict—either way, it looks like we might be seeing a new Elektra in the MCU.
Of course, there’s always the chance that this casting call is for a completely different character. If that’s the case, it could mean Elektra is still on the table, and maybe Yung will surprise us with a return. Either way, the anticipation for Daredevil: Born Again just got a whole lot more interesting.
With the show undergoing a major creative overhaul after its initial direction didn’t sit well with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, Marvel seems to be making sure this revival lives up to fan expectations. Whether Elektra returns in her original form or with a fresh face, one thing’s for sure—the Daredevil hype is real. We’ll just have to wait and see who ends up stepping into Elektra’s legendary shoes.
