Fans and Family Bid Emotional Farewell to Linda Nolan

The music world came together in Blackpool to say a heartfelt goodbye to Linda Nolan, a beloved singer from the iconic pop group, The Nolans. As mourners gathered at St. Paul’s Church, emotions ran high as Linda’s pink, glittery coffin—lined with beautiful flowers—arrived in a hearse. Applause filled the air, a touching tribute to a woman who had spent her life in the spotlight, bringing joy to so many.

Linda’s sisters—Anne, Maureen, Coleen, and Denise—walked alongside the coffin, joined by close friends and family members. Some chose to wear traditional black, while others embraced Linda’s favorite color, incorporating pink ribbons and accessories to honor her vibrant spirit. Outside the church, a book of condolence was signed by those who wanted to leave their personal messages of love and remembrance.

During the service, Denise Nolan-Anderson delivered a moving eulogy, remembering Linda as someone who adored glamour, excitement, and being the center of attention. “She really loved going to premieres and opening nights, having her beautiful hair and makeup done, and always was the life and soul of any big occasion. She would have loved all the fuss today,” she shared, bringing smiles and tears to those present.

Several well-known figures attended the funeral, including EastEnders actor Shane Richie and comedian Paul Elliott, better known as Paul Chuckle. Paul fondly recalled Linda’s bubbly personality, saying, “She was just a fun, bubbly person. The world’s a darker place without her.”

Linda Nolan, born in Dublin, rose to fame in the 1970s with The Nolans, best known for their hit song I’m in the Mood for Dancing . Her life was marked by both triumph and hardship. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, she fought bravely for two decades, facing multiple battles with the disease. Despite undergoing treatments, including a mastectomy and chemotherapy, the cancer eventually spread to her brain, and in early 2025, she lost her fight at the age of 65.

Her passing was especially poignant given her enduring love for her late husband, Brian Hudson, who died of skin cancer in 2007. Linda’s sister Coleen shared a touching decision made by the family: “My first thought after she died was to put Brian’s ashes with Linda’s. So that’s what we’re doing. In life, they were never apart, so I’m glad they’ll be together again.”

In the final years of her life, Linda spoke candidly about her health struggles, preparing herself for the inevitable. In a 2023 interview, she revealed how heartbreaking it was to hear that her treatment had stopped working. “I had feared something was wrong. My balance was getting worse, my memory too… I asked my consultant straight away: ‘Has it spread?’ When he told me, I immediately asked: ‘What do we do now?’”

Earlier in January, Linda was hospitalized with double pneumonia. She became comatose and, surrounded by her loving siblings, passed away peacefully.

Before the funeral, Anne Nolan took to social media to invite fans to pay their respects, saying Linda would have been “thrilled” by the love and support. Her post described Linda as a “beloved sister, friend, and entertainer,” as well as a “symbol of hope, humor, and resilience.”

As the funeral came to a close, Linda was laid to rest in a private service at a crematorium, where her ashes were united with her husband’s. It was a fitting farewell for a woman who brought light, laughter, and music to the world—one final encore, surrounded by love.
