
Former Gopher Basketball Star Taiye Bello Tragically Passes Away at 26

During her time with the Gophers from 2016 to 2020, Taiye Bello established herself as a dominant force in women’s college basketball. She set and still holds the University of Minnesota’s all-time offensive rebound record, with an impressive 462 rebounds. Additionally, she earned the third-most defensive rebounds in Gopher history, with 549. Her relentless energy and determination on the court helped elevate her team, and she was known for her exceptional work ethic and her ability to impact the game in ways that went beyond scoring. Her passion for basketball and her commitment to her teammates made her a standout player who will be remembered as one of the best to ever wear the Gophers jersey.
