Former Texas WR Johntay Cook II Arrested on Theft Charges
Johntay Cook II, a former wide receiver for the Texas Longhorns and Washington Huskies, found himself in serious trouble after being arrested on charges of property theft and interference with public duties. The 20-year-old player, once a highly touted recruit out of DeSoto, Texas, was taken into custody by the Fort Worth Police Department and booked into the Lon Evans Correctional Center. As of the latest reports, no bond had been set for Cook.
The incident that led to his arrest took place when Cook allegedly stole car keys from a business drive-thru. Reports indicate that he reached into the window, took the keys, and left the scene. Fort Worth police later tracked him down, but Cook reportedly failed to comply with officers' instructions, which led to additional charges of interfering with their duties. The stolen keys were recovered, but the situation has certainly put a dark cloud over Cook's promising career.
