Igloo Recalls Over a Million Coolers Due to Finger Amputation Risk
Hey everyone, this is something you need to hear, especially if you own an Igloo rolling cooler. Over a million of these coolers have just been recalled across North America because of a serious safety hazard. People have reported severe injuries, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and deep cuts—all from simply using the handle.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued this recall after multiple complaints from customers. These coolers, specifically the 90-quart Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers , have a design flaw where the tow handle can pinch your fingers against the cooler itself. And we’re not just talking about minor scrapes—there have been at least 12 cases of people suffering amputations, broken bones, and lacerations . That’s scary!

Now, if you’ve bought an Igloo rolling cooler between 2019 and 2025 —whether from Amazon, Costco, Target, or directly from Igloo’s website— you need to stop using it immediately . The price of these coolers ranged from $80 to $140, and they’ve been sold widely across the US, Canada, and Mexico. In total, 1.06 million units in the US, 47,000 in Canada, and 23,000 in Mexico are affected.
So, what should you do if you have one of these coolers? Igloo is urging customers to stop using the handle right away and contact them for a replacement handle . This is a serious recall, and taking action now could prevent a painful and potentially life-changing injury.
This isn’t the first major product recall we’ve seen lately. Just recently, Coca-Cola had to recall some of their drinks due to safety concerns, and Kellogg’s pulled their chocolate cornflakes from the shelves because of a choking hazard. It just goes to show that even big, trusted brands can have serious safety issues.
If you or someone you know owns one of these coolers, spread the word . Safety comes first, and no one should have to deal with an injury from something as simple as using a cooler. Stay safe out there!
