LIV Golf Secures Future in Adelaide with Greg Norman-Designed Course
Big news for golf fans and South Australia! LIV Golf has officially locked in its presence in Adelaide, securing its place until at least 2028, with a potential extension to 2031. The South Australian government has reached an agreement to upgrade the North Adelaide Golf Course with a world-class redesign by none other than Greg Norman. This move is set to elevate the city's golf scene and boost its economy significantly.
Premier Peter Malinauskas made the announcement, highlighting the enormous potential of bringing LIV Golf closer to the heart of the city. The current host, Grange Golf Club, has been the tournament’s home since 2023, but this new deal would see the tournament move to a brand-new championship-level course in North Adelaide. "Getting LIV Golf into the city unlocks yet more economic potential," Malinauskas said.
Greg Norman, an icon in the sport and a renowned golf course designer, expressed his excitement about the project. He described the North Adelaide Golf Course as a "diamond in the rough" and promised to turn it into something spectacular. Having a professional-level course right in the city center is a rare opportunity, and Norman is eager to bring his expertise to the table.

The financial details of the redevelopment are still under wraps, with the premier stating that final numbers will be released as part of the state budget. Previous estimates for an upgrade to the North Adelaide course were around $50-60 million, but the government has yet to confirm the exact investment.
LIV Golf has already brought significant economic benefits to South Australia. Since its first event in 2023, it has generated over $120 million in economic activity for the state. With the new agreement, this impact is expected to grow even further. The tournament’s CEO, Scott O’Neil, emphasized that Adelaide has become the "exclusive home of LIV Golf in Australia," setting a high standard for international golf events.
One of the most exciting aspects of this redevelopment is that the upgraded North Adelaide course will remain open to the public. Malinauskas pointed out that young golf enthusiasts will soon have the chance to play on the same course as their idols, something that isn’t possible at Grange.
While the opposition has expressed support for keeping LIV Golf in South Australia, they are keen to review the cost of the project. Opposition leader Vincent Tarzia assured that if a Liberal government were elected in 2026, they would continue to back the tournament, but he also stressed the need for transparency in spending.
The decision to extend LIV Golf’s stay in Adelaide is a strategic move that strengthens the city's position as a top-tier destination for major sporting events. With Greg Norman leading the redesign, the North Adelaide Golf Course is set to become a premier golfing venue, attracting fans and players from all over the world.
South Australia is making a bold statement: LIV Golf is here to stay, and the future of golf in Adelaide looks brighter than ever.
