Maple Leafs Stun Bruins in Overtime Comeback Thriller
What a game at TD Garden! The Toronto Maple Leafs pulled off an incredible comeback, overcoming a three-goal deficit to beat the Boston Bruins 5-4 in overtime. Mitch Marner was the hero of the night, scoring his second goal in dramatic fashion in the final minute of OT. It was an intense, fast-paced matchup between two Atlantic Division rivals, and it did not disappoint.
The Bruins came out flying, with David Pastrnak wasting no time—just 29 seconds into the game, he buried a wrister past Anthony Stolarz to extend his career-best point streak to 15 games. Boston kept the pressure on, and Morgan Geekie capitalized on a power play midway through the second period to give the Bruins a commanding 3-0 lead. At that point, it looked like the Bruins were in control. But if there’s one thing you can’t do against Toronto, it’s get comfortable too early.

The Maple Leafs started their comeback in the second, with Morgan Rielly and Nicholas Robertson finding the back of the net to cut Boston’s lead to just one heading into the third. Robertson wasn’t done—he tied the game at 3-3 with a beautiful wrist shot past Jeremy Swayman, setting up a nail-biting finish.
Pastrnak wasn’t going to let the Bruins go down easy, though. He struck again late in the game to give Boston a 4-3 edge, putting the home crowd back on its feet. But just when it seemed like the Bruins would escape with a win, Pontus Holmberg tied it up with only 46 seconds left in regulation. Toronto had pulled their goalie for the extra attacker, and it paid off in the most dramatic way.
That set the stage for Marner’s overtime magic. On a clean breakaway, he made a slick move and tucked the puck past Swayman, sealing the win for Toronto and leaving the Bruins stunned.
For Boston, this loss extends their losing streak to four games, a tough stretch as they inch closer to the trade deadline. Meanwhile, Toronto is surging, winning six of their last seven games and sitting atop the Atlantic Division.
Next up, the Maple Leafs head to New York to take on the Rangers, while the Bruins will try to regroup as they face the Islanders. One thing’s for sure—this game will be remembered for a long time!
