Miracle on Highway 20: A Near-Tragic Collision in Sainte-Julie

This morning, a terrifying accident on Highway 20 in Sainte-Julie left everyone in shock. The scene was nothing short of catastrophic—an entire car crushed under the weight of a massive truck, which then caught fire. And yet, against all odds, every single person involved survived. A true miracle.

It happened around 10 a.m. near kilometer 102. Traffic had slowed down unexpectedly, but a dump truck driver failed to reduce speed in time. In a brutal impact, the truck completely flattened the car in front of it. Witnesses described the wreckage as almost unrecognizable, an accordion-like mass of metal. Shockingly, both occupants of the crushed car—though seriously injured—made it out alive. The truck driver, who suffered minor injuries, was also transported to the hospital.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly, which may have been the difference between life and death. Several drivers immediately called 911 upon witnessing the crash, and first responders wasted no time extracting the victims from the mangled wreck. Given the severity of the impact, it's astonishing that no one lost their life.

An experienced tow truck operator, who has seen countless accident scenes over the years, couldn’t believe his eyes. “It’s a miracle,” he said, echoing the thoughts of many on site. Even a retired police officer passing by was left stunned, calling it one of the worst accidents he had ever seen.

Authorities have since closed off a portion of Highway 20 to investigate. A specialist from the Sûreté du Québec is reconstructing the scene to determine the exact circumstances. While the cause appears to be a sudden slowdown in traffic, officials have not ruled out the possibility of criminal charges.

For now, one thing is certain: today could have ended in tragedy. Instead, it serves as a shocking reminder of how unpredictable the road can be—and how sometimes, miracles do happen.
