Pams Chicken Nuggets Recalled in NZ Over Blue Rubber Contamination

Hey everyone, I’ve got an important update for you, especially if you’ve recently bought Pams Tempura Coated Chicken Nuggets. A recall has just been issued across New Zealand due to the possible presence of blue rubber in the product. Yeah, you heard that right—blue rubber!

Foodstuffs Own Brands, the company behind Pams products, is pulling a specific batch of their 1kg Tempura Coated Chicken Nuggets from supermarket shelves. If you have a bag with a best-before date of 16 October 2025 , do not eat them. Instead, you should either return them to the store for a full refund or dispose of them if that’s not possible.

These nuggets have been sold at Four Square, Gilmours, New World, Pak’nSave, and Social Supermarket stores across the country. The recall was prompted by a customer complaint , which led to further investigation and the decision to remove the affected batch from circulation.

According to Vincent Arbuckle, Deputy Director-General of New Zealand Food Safety , consuming these nuggets could pose a health risk. While there haven’t been any reported injuries yet, it’s better to be safe than sorry. No one wants to bite into a nugget and find rubber instead of crispy chicken!

Now, before you start worrying about other Pams products, let me clarify— this recall only affects this particular batch of chicken nuggets . No other Pams brand items are involved. Foodstuffs is also working closely with food safety authorities to figure out how this happened and to prevent it from happening again.

If you’ve already eaten these nuggets and feel unwell, it’s best to seek medical advice just to be on the safe side. And if you still have them in your freezer, check that date— 16 October 2025 —and get rid of them.

Spread the word, folks! If you know someone who buys Pams nuggets regularly, let them know. Food safety is no joke, and nobody wants an unexpected chewy surprise in their dinner.
