Shakur Stevenson Calls Out Floyd Schofield’s Withdrawal as a ‘Stunt’

So, here’s the deal—Shakur Stevenson was all set to fight Floyd Schofield this weekend, but guess what? Schofield pulled out at the last minute. And if you ask Stevenson, he saw it coming from a mile away.

Speaking with Fight Hub TV , Stevenson explained that he had doubts from the beginning about whether Schofield would actually step into the ring. He first got suspicious when Schofield didn’t show up to the grand arrival. Then, things got even weirder when he bumped into Schofield’s father at the hotel elevator. That’s when he got the news—Schofield was out due to illness. But Stevenson wasn’t buying it.

“I kind of pressed him out,” Stevenson said about his conversation with Schofield’s father. “And when I did, he told me, ‘Yeah, he’s sick.’” But the kicker? Schofield’s dad also admitted they had already suggested getting a backup opponent—just in case. That, to Stevenson, was a huge red flag.

Now, instead of being frustrated or surprised, Stevenson just shrugged it off. He says he already had a feeling this was coming. “I can’t be emotional about it because I already thought this was going to happen,” he said. He pointed out that when he was Schofield’s age, he was mentally sharper and more prepared for big fights. In his mind, Schofield wasn’t ready—physically or mentally.

And then there’s the whole poisoning claim. Yeah, you heard that right. Schofield’s father suggested that his son may have been poisoned, claiming that a massage therapist rubbed something on him. But Stevenson was quick to shut that down. “I don’t even have a massage therapist down here,” he said. “So how did my massage therapist rub any cream on you?” He dismissed the accusation as just another excuse.

At the end of the day, Stevenson believes this whole situation was just a stunt. He even pointed out that Schofield didn’t look like someone who was struggling to make weight—he looked fully hydrated all week, which made the last-minute withdrawal even more suspicious.

But hey, the show must go on. Stevenson now has a new opponent: Josh Padley, who stepped in at the last minute to take the fight. It’s a huge opportunity for Padley—his own “Rocky Balboa moment.” But let’s be real, Stevenson is the heavy favorite.

The fight is still happening, just with a different opponent. And as for Schofield? Stevenson seems to have already moved on, calling the situation “clown stuff” and focusing on what’s next.
