Tesco to Remove Clubcard Payment Feature – What It Means for Shoppers
Big changes are coming for Tesco shoppers! If you’ve been using the Tesco app’s “Pay in-store” feature to quickly pay and collect Clubcard points in one go, you might want to prepare for a slight adjustment. Tesco has announced that this feature will be phased out by Friday, March 7, 2025 , meaning customers will need to scan their Clubcard separately from their payment method moving forward.

In an email sent to customers, Tesco acknowledged that removing this feature was a “difficult decision” but assured shoppers that they are committed to maintaining the best value and convenience. They also clarified that any linked card details stored in the Tesco app for Pay in-store will be automatically removed— unless they are used for services like GetGo, Whoosh, or home delivery shopping .
While the removal of this feature may seem like a setback, Tesco emphasizes that earning Clubcard points remains quick and easy . Shoppers can still scan their Clubcard via the Tesco app , use their physical Clubcard , or even add it to Apple or Google Wallet to streamline their checkout experience.
For those who enjoyed the simplicity of Pay in-store , this change might take some getting used to. However, Tesco is confident that shoppers will adapt, especially with so many other fast and secure payment options available.
