The recent meeting between former President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was nothing short of dramatic. In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared, “He can come back when he is ready for peace.” This statement sent a strong signal that the U.S. would no longer unconditionally support Ukraine’s position in the ongoing war with Russia.

At one point, Trump criticized Zelenskyy for "playing cards" with millions of lives at stake and warned him about the dangers of escalating tensions into a potential World War III.
The situation escalated when Vance pointedly asked Zelenskyy if he had even once expressed gratitude for U.S. support. Zelenskyy responded that war affects everyone, including the U.S., but Trump quickly shut down that argument, telling him, “Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel.” The confrontation highlighted deep frustrations within the Trump administration regarding ongoing U.S. involvement in Ukraine.
Following the meeting, Zelenskyy took to social media to thank the U.S. for its support, but the damage had already been done. Trump’s stance signals a major shift in U.S. foreign policy, suggesting that his administration would prioritize a swift peace deal—even if it meant pressuring Ukraine to make concessions.
