Wisconsin Braces for Heavy Snow as Winter Storm Sweeps Through
Good morning, Wisconsin! If you woke up to a fresh blanket of snow today, you’re definitely not alone. The winter storm that rolled in on Wednesday, February 12, brought significant snowfall to many areas across southeast Wisconsin. The National Weather Service has been tracking the storm, and as of early this morning, snowfall totals are showing some pretty impressive numbers.

Let’s break it down—Milwaukee itself got hit hard, measuring around 7.5 inches of snow. Other areas near the lake, like Greendale and Whitefish Bay, saw similar totals, ranging from 7 to 7.2 inches . Meanwhile, spots like Brookfield and Pewaukee recorded around 5.8 inches , while Franklin and St. Francis saw a little less, sitting at 2 inches . The further inland you go, the totals tend to drop, with places like West Bend only getting 0.7 inches and Mayville at 1.2 inches .
Now, if you’re heading out this morning, be prepared for slick and icy roads. Snowplows have been working hard overnight, but secondary roads and side streets are still pretty slippery. The snow may have stopped falling, but wind chills are making things even more challenging. Temperatures are sitting in the teens, but when you factor in the wind, it’s feeling even colder—some areas could see wind chills dipping below zero.
And here’s the thing—this might not be the end of the snowfall for the week. Meteorologists are already tracking another system moving in by Friday night into Saturday , which could bring another 3 to 6 inches of snow across the region. That means you’ll want to keep those shovels handy and plan ahead if you have weekend travel plans.
