WWE Reportedly Releases Blair Davenport Amid Mass Talent Cuts
Big news coming out of WWE—Blair Davenport has reportedly been released as part of the latest round of mass cuts. This news comes from both PWInsider and Fightful, who confirm that WWE has let go of several talents, with Davenport being one of the more surprising names on the list.

Now, if you’ve been following her career, you’ll know that Blair Davenport had a strong run in NXT before being called up to the main roster in April 2024. But, according to reports, there weren’t really any creative plans for her since then. She only had a handful of matches on SmackDown —five to be exact—winning just one, and her most notable feud was with Naomi. On top of that, she made a single appearance on WWE Speed before her final match on SmackDown last November, where she lost in the first round of the Women’s United States Championship tournament to Chelsea Green.
What makes this release even more frustrating for fans is how quickly her main roster run fizzled out. Davenport had built a strong reputation on the independent scene, particularly with STARDOM, where she made a name for herself before joining WWE. Many expected her to be a solid addition to the women’s division, but she just never got that consistent TV time or the right storyline to truly shine.
One interesting note—she was recently seen backstage at TNA Emergence , and with her now being a free agent, there’s already speculation that she could land in another major promotion. Given her history and skill set, she’s expected to receive plenty of attention worldwide.
This wave of WWE releases has also included names like Sonya Deville, the Authors of Pain, Paul Ellering, Cedric Alexander, and Duke Hudson. And when you look at some of the other names who were called up in the 2024 WWE Draft—Baron Corbin, Indi Hartwell, Tegan Nox, Dijak, Odyssey Jones, Kiana James—many of them either got cut or barely used. It raises questions about WWE’s long-term planning when it comes to new talent.
For now, Blair Davenport’s time in WWE is officially over, but with her talent and past success, it’s only a matter of time before we see her making waves somewhere else.
