Ben Simmons Sidelined Again as Clippers Rely on Stars for Kings Clash
Ben Simmons is once again facing injury setbacks, and it’s becoming a frustrating pattern for both him and the Los Angeles Clippers. After showing promise in his initial appearances with the team, playing over 20 minutes per game and delivering solid stats—including 8.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.0 steals—his momentum has been derailed by persistent health issues. Now, Simmons is set to miss yet another game, this time against the Sacramento Kings, due to left knee injury management.
For Clippers fans, this isn’t entirely unexpected. Since his All-Star days in Philadelphia, Simmons’ career has been defined as much by his talent as by his availability concerns. The reality is that the Clippers, who initially saw him as a versatile weapon off the bench, haven’t been able to count on him consistently. In the past seven games, he’s played in only two, logging under 19 minutes in each. That’s not the impact the team was hoping for when they brought him in.

With Simmons out and Norman Powell also unavailable, the Clippers will be looking to their key stars—Kawhi Leonard and James Harden—to take charge. They’ve managed to secure back-to-back wins, but having Simmons as a reliable option in the rotation could have provided much-needed depth, especially against a team like the Kings. The concern now isn’t just about this game but about how Simmons fits into the Clippers' long-term plans.
At 6-foot-10, Simmons has an elite skill set—his defense, passing, and ability to push the ball in transition make him a unique asset. However, that’s only valuable if he’s on the court. His injury history speaks for itself; last season, he played just 15 games, and ever since his standout 2018-19 season, staying healthy has been an uphill battle. His availability, or lack thereof, could shape not only his future but also the Clippers' postseason aspirations.
For now, the Clippers have no choice but to move forward without him, hoping that Leonard and Harden can continue to carry the load. As for Simmons, the big question remains: can he stay healthy long enough to make a real impact? Only time will tell.
