Estepona's Bright Future: A New Era of Urban Illumination

Hey everyone! Today, I want to talk about some exciting developments happening in Estepona, a charming coastal town on Spain’s Costa del Sol. If you’ve been keeping an eye on the news, you might have heard about the ambitious municipal project to enhance the town’s infrastructure—specifically, its public lighting. And let me tell you, this is a big deal!

So, here’s what’s going on. The Estepona City Council has received nearly 60 bids from companies eager to take on the first phases of this public lighting project. What does that mean for the town? Well, it means that the intense competition is driving down the costs, which is great news for taxpayers. More importantly, it means improved safety and visibility for residents and visitors alike.

The project focuses on illuminating 11 key access roads leading to various residential areas, including Isdabe, Cortes, Sun Beach, Avenida Flamenca, Boladilla, Nicola, Alberdina, La Cala, Monterroso, Guadalobón, and Arroyo Vaquero. In total, they plan to install 536 new light points, ensuring better conditions for both pedestrians and drivers. Imagine walking along these streets at night with clearer visibility and a greater sense of security—that’s what this project is all about!

But that’s not all! The second phase of this initiative is just as impressive. It includes the installation of solar-powered streetlights along Estepona’s beautiful coastal path, known as the corredor litoral. We’re talking about 520 new eco-friendly streetlights set to brighten up 15 prime locations, such as El Saladillo, Villacana, Hotel Ikos, Guadalmansa, El Velerín, and many more. The city is making a strong commitment to energy efficiency, using LED lights and solar-powered solutions to cut down on electricity consumption.

With an initial budget of over 1.5 million euros, Estepona is making a significant investment in public infrastructure. Deputy Mayor Blas Ruzafa emphasized the importance of balancing urban development with sustainability, and that’s exactly what they’re doing here. Not only will these projects enhance safety and accessibility, but they’ll also contribute to reducing the town’s overall energy demand.

It’s clear that Estepona is on a mission to modernize while keeping environmental consciousness at the forefront. Whether you’re a local, a property owner, or someone considering a move to this vibrant Spanish town, these improvements are definitely something to look forward to.

So, what do you think? Would these upgrades make Estepona an even more attractive place to live or visit? Let me know your thoughts!
