Fire Breaks Out at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT, Sending Smoke Over the Park
Hey everyone, we’ve got some unexpected news coming from Walt Disney World’s EPCOT park. A fire broke out on Saturday evening, catching many guests by surprise as thick black smoke billowed across the sky. Visitors quickly took to social media, sharing shocking images and videos of the incident, which occurred near the French Pavilion at EPCOT’s World Showcase.
According to reports, the fire started in a backstage area when a walk-in cooler unexpectedly caught fire. Thankfully, Disney’s emergency response teams acted swiftly, and the fire was fully extinguished by 7:20 PM local time. The good news? No injuries were reported, and no buildings suffered any significant damage.

However, the incident did cause some disruption in the park. One of EPCOT’s popular attractions, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, had to be evacuated due to its close proximity to the fire. For those unfamiliar, this is a 4D ride experience that immerses guests in the world of the beloved Disney-Pixar film, Ratatouille. Although the French Pavilion reopened to guests later that evening, the ride itself remained closed for the rest of the night.
With Florida’s spring break season in full swing and EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival taking place, the park was packed with visitors at the time of the fire. The quick response from Disney’s emergency teams helped ensure that the situation was handled as smoothly as possible.
While fires at Disney theme parks are rare, this incident serves as a reminder that even in the most magical places, unexpected events can occur. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has not yet commented on the incident, but for now, it looks like the park has returned to normal operations.
So, for those planning to visit EPCOT soon, you can rest assured that safety remains a top priority at Disney. And as always, if any further updates come in, we’ll be sure to keep you posted!
